Akariyah

The Akariyah Commercial Center is located on Musa Bin Nusair street in AlOlaya, and was completed in 1982. The 4-story building is stretched out on a 27,000 sqm plot and hosts office spaces in the two upper floors, in addition to the retail spaces on the ground and first floor. The complex also provides underground parking. The building is recessed from the ground floor onwards creating a tapered structure that allows for shaded outdoor circulation on street level while maximizing the space for the upper levels. The facade grid projects slightly off the glass windows, creating shadows with this approach of tectonic quality in layering. High pillars emphasize the rectangularity of the building in combination with the natural stone.
